African Trade Beads
African trade beads originate from Venice and other parts of Europe and were traded in Africa and the Americas.
For the most part, these beads were made in the late 19th century or the early 20th century and may have had several owners.
Rita's collection includes both African trade beads and African-made beads. Rita purchased beads from African traders from a variety of African countries, including Nigeria,
Ghana, Mali, Ethiopia, and Mauritania. The African Trade collection include marble beads, several strands of chevron beads, and many strands of gold-striped beads.
The African-made beads include Bodom beads, king beads, snake beads, horn beads, and Kiffa beads. At the end of this section are grab bags of miscellaneous beads,
some which may not be African Trade beads.
The African Trade Beads section has been updated to combine all previously separated sections into one larger section and to eliminate pages with only SOLD items.
Consequently, some pages are no longer visible and some SOLD items are still visible. Inventory items numbers and page numbers are the same as before the update.
