Amazonite Beads
The amazonite beads shown in Rita's collection are very old. Amazonite beads were especially important to the inhabitants of Mauritania.
Amazonite beads can be found in Morocco and Mali, as well.
The first strand of amazonite, which is magnificent, is unusual in that the beads are all short in length, or barrel-shaped. Most of the other
amazonite beads tend to be tubular in shape.
Some of the strands are a mixture of serpentine and amazonite.
There is only 1 strands of amazonite remaining in the collection. See Amazonite Item 015 (p. 04).
