Collector's Collectibles

Collector's Collectibles includes unique and unusual items from all over the world. Rita had a passion for finding interesting things to add to her collection.

In Xian, the former capital of China, she came upon Tiger hats for toddlers. She also found shoes for bound feet, though foot binding had already been long out of practice in China.
At the flea market in Paris, she found decorative carvings and masks from Africa. From Italy and Greece, she came upon beautiful, unusual ex-votive figures/milagros. In England,
she discovered Victorian era antiques, including intricate fans.

Other items in this section include a cast ornament from Burma, a cast brass turtle from Africa, a Yoruban carved wooden man, and a carved cow bone effigy from Zaire. There are Afghan hats, a copper lantern from Israel, a brass box from India, a carved bone figure from Indonesia or Nepal, and a carved hippopotamus tooth. Also, included in this part of the collection are a carved
ivory female bust from Africa, an ivory scent bottle from India, a cloissonnee candle holder from China, and a carved boxwood statue of Hotei from China.

From Africa, there are carved wooden statues of a man or a woman, a double hooded elephant, and a very large carving of a man astride an animal. See the ancient ceramic cup from Egypt,
an antique jade vase from China, and an ancient vase from Iran.

During Rita's travels to the Middle East, she always kept her eye out for well-made Bedouin textiles and garments. These, too, are included in this part of the collection.

Also included are ancient coins and an antique, complete set of dental tools. And there are many beautiful, antique, carved wooden masks from various tribes in Africa.
